Course Overview
Welcome to the Kids' Pottery Course, a fun and creative 3-week (one night a week) journey into the world of clay! Designed for children ages 7 to 10, this course offers young artists the opportunity to explore their imaginations while learning the basics of pottery. Each session is packed with hands-on activities that encourage self-expression, patience, and craftsmanship.
Course Schedule

Week 1: Introduction to Clay and Basic Techniques
- Learn about different types of clay and their uses
- Introduction to hand-building techniques: pinching, coiling, and slab building
- Create simple pottery pieces like pinch pots and coil bowls

Week 2: Create a clay creature
- Discover how to shape clay into various forms and figures
- Explore texture and pattern creation using tools and natural objects
- Bring to life your clay creature

Week 3: Glazing and Finishing Touches
- Introduction to the glazing process and colour application
- Learn about kiln firing and the transformation of clay
- Finish and decorate your pottery pieces to take home

Materials Provided
- All necessary clay and pottery tools

- Time: 6PM - 7.30PM
- Location: 17 Ashe Street, Clonakilty
- Dates: January 8th, 15th and 22nd (Wednesday evenings)
